Prachanda Calls for Constitution Amendment to Ensure Political Stability

Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has emphasized the need to amend Nepal’s constitution to achieve lasting political stability.
Speaking at a press conference in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi—held as part of the party’s ongoing awareness campaign—Prachanda pointed out that while major parties like CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress had raised the issue of constitutional amendment during government formation talks, they failed to act on it.
He argued that the constitution should be reviewed and amended within 10 years, not to curtail rights, but to further empower the people.
Clarifying that his party has no intention of toppling the current government, Prachanda said the campaign aims to understand public concerns, protect republican values, and counter attempts—whether in the name of monarchy or other forces—to undermine the current system.
