President Paudel Promotes Investment Opportunities to Visiting Japanese Delegation
A delegation led by Japanese lawmaker Takebe Arata met with President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas. During the meeting, President Paudel highlighted Nepal's favorable investment environment in sectors such as hydropower, tourism, and agriculture.
President Paudel informed the Japanese delegation about recent legal reforms by the Government of Nepal aimed at creating an enabling environment for investment. He encouraged Japanese investors to consider opportunities in Nepal, emphasizing the country's potential in various sectors, according to the Secretariat of President Paudel.
The President expressed his gratitude for Japan's "unconditional and selfless" support, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, and health. He noted that Nepal and Japan share a cultural connection through Lord Buddha and that the relationship between the two nations is strong at the people-to-people level. Additionally, President Paudel remarked on the close bond between the two countries, highlighting their shared values in international forums on issues such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
Furthermore, President Paudel expressed satisfaction with the performance of Nepali students returning from Japan, acknowledging their valuable skills and contributions.
The Japanese delegation, led by Arata, who also serves as the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Judicial Affairs under the House of Representatives of Japan, brought attention to the need for a favorable environment for Japanese companies interested in investing in Nepal. Arata suggested that the Nepalese government focus on economic decentralization and creating conditions that would encourage returnees to stay and work in Nepal.
