Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Announces Expansion of Social Security Coverage
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced plans to broaden the scope of the Social Security Fund to provide additional benefits to contributors and their families. Speaking at an event organized by the Fund to mark the seventh Social Security Day, the Prime Minister stated that the extended benefits would take effect within 90 days.
Under the new provisions, the offspring of contributors will also be eligible for benefits. Additionally, for medical expenses exceeding Rs 100,000, the Fund will cover 50% of the total costs, offering significant relief to contributors requiring medical support.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding the constitutional fundamental rights of citizens, emphasizing its responsibility to implement them effectively.
During the event, the Prime Minister also recognized and honored major contributors and service providers for their role in strengthening the Social Security Fund.
