Prime Minister Prachanda Affirms Coalition Government's Full Term and Discusses Key Bilateral Issues with Indian Leaders
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has confirmed that the current coalition government will remain in office for the entire tenure of the parliament. Speaking to the media at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) upon his return from a two-day visit to India, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the commitment of the existing ruling alliance to serve its full term.
The Prime Minister traveled to New Delhi on Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been elected for a third consecutive term. Addressing questions from journalists about the government's decision to recall ambassadors from 11 countries, PM Prachanda described the timing as coincidental. He noted that Nepal's Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Sharma, was part of the Nepali delegation in India and acknowledged that the government's attention was not fully focused when the decision to recall the ambassadors was made.
Last Thursday, the Council of Ministers decided to recall Nepal's ambassadors to India, the USA, the UK, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, and Israel.
Prime Minister Dahal also addressed statements made by CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, asserting that they would not impact the ruling coalition. Additionally, the Prime Minister discussed key issues with Indian leaders, including the Nepal-India border dispute, SAARC, the Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project, and other significant matters. He expressed optimism about resolving these bilateral issues through consultation and the bilateral mechanism.
During his visit, Prime Minister Dahal held a brief meeting with Prime Minister Modi and paid a courtesy call on the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, various aspects of Nepal-India relations were discussed during these meetings.
Prime Minister Dahal was accompanied by his daughter Ganga Dahal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and other high-ranking government officials.
