Prime Minister Prachanda Commends Radio Sagarmatha on Its 28th Anniversary, Reaffirms Support for Independent Community Radio

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting and sustaining independent community radio. In his message of best wishes on the occasion of Radio Sagarmatha's 28th anniversary, the Prime Minister lauded the station for its significant role in advancing community broadcasting services.

Radio Sagarmatha, operated by the Nepal Forum of Environment Journalists (NEFEJ), is the first independent and community radio station in South Asia. The Prime Minister highlighted its pivotal contributions to information dissemination and community service, stating, "I am pleased to hear that Radio Sagarmatha FM 102.4 MHz is observing its 28th anniversary today (Jestha 9). It has played a leading role in the development of community transmission service and has contributed to information dissemination."

In his message, Prime Minister Dahal acknowledged the radio's instrumental role in various societal advancements, including political transformation, conflict management, peace establishment, social justice, promotion of democratic culture and the rule of law, sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the promotion of human rights and freedom of expression. He expressed hope that Radio Sagarmatha would continue to play an effective role in addressing the country's ongoing challenges. The station marked its establishment day with various programs to celebrate its achievements and future aspirations.
