Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to Seek Vote of Confidence on July 12
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is set to seek a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR) on July 12. According to sources at the PM’s Secretariat, PM Dahal will make a formal proposal during the HoR meeting scheduled for that date.
This move comes in the wake of the CPN-UML withdrawing its support from the government on July 3, which led to the resignation of eight UML ministers from their positions. The resignations of these ministers have been accepted, and the UML has officially informed the Federal Parliament Secretariat about its withdrawal of support and its new role as an opposition party in parliament.
The political landscape shifted on July 1 when the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML reached an agreement to form a new political equation, addressing issues such as government formation and constitutional amendment.
Despite the political upheaval and his fall into the minority, PM Dahal has decided to face the parliament and seek a vote of confidence rather than resign from his post.
