The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the past one year was focused on structural reforms and maintaining law and order, and good governance.

Sharing major achievements of the year at a programme held at the Ministry today, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal said the Ministry has made important achievements in law and order maintenance and crime control.

An action plan for administrative reforms was developed and implemented to realize the vision of the constitution, law and government while the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption was enforced, Home Minister Thapa said.

Claiming that administrative anomalies were minimized, he said mobilization of the security agencies had now become more organised and professional. "However, there is still lot to be done in law and order, crime control and good governance, and all should be alert towards this end," he said.

The Home Minister outlined organised crime control, breaking of the syndicate in the transport sector, combating the irregularities in the development construction and law enforcement sectors as some of the major achievements.

Twenty-one laws were formulated, 275 security persons mobilized for personal security against the law were withdrawn while 95 per cent of the incidents of crime of rape were successfully investigated and the organised criminal network of gold smuggling busted. A working procedure was developed to remove obstructions in the highways and additional border outposts were set up in the border areas, according to information shared by the Ministry on the occasion.
