Rasuwa Customs Office Collects Rs 585.5 Million in Fines for Duty Evasion on Chinese Imports
The customs office in Rasuwa has collected Rs 585.5 million in fines from traders who attempted to evade customs duties by underreporting the quantity of goods imported from China. Chief Customs Officer Ram Prasad Pathak reported that this amount was collected over the past 11 months of the current fiscal year.
According to Officer Pathak, goods valued at Rs 59.7875 billion have been imported from China, while goods worth Rs 1.8476 billion have been exported to China through the Rasuwa customs checkpoint between July 17, 2023, and June 14, 2024, in the current fiscal year 2023/24.
Revenue collection has seen a significant increase, reaching 165 percent of the annual target. A total of Rs 19.1721 billion has been collected as revenue during this period, indicating a substantial boost in the efficiency and effectiveness of the customs office's operations.
