Relief Distribution for Flood and Landslide Victims in Kavre District
Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has distributed relief to 45 families affected by floods and landslides in Panauti Municipality and Bethanchowk Village in Kavre District.
The relief was given on behalf of the financial institution to victims taking shelter with relatives in Panauti's Khopasi. Despite challenges in preparing the relief food due to a lack of cooking facilities, the organization provided assistance valued at approximately two lakh rupees.
The disaster, caused by heavy rains leading to the Shailendra Bagar river flooding, resulted in two fatalities and damage to nearly four dozen homes. Resident Aryan Mahat recounted the tragic night of Ashwin 12 when he lost nearly everything but his life, escaping as his property was swept away by the flood.
Overall, 77 people have died in the Kavre District due to flooding and landslides, with significant losses reported in various municipalities. Many rural roads remain blocked, and while some relief efforts are ongoing, many affected areas have yet to receive assistance.
