Resumption of Work on Tanahun Hydropower Project After 51-Day Halt
Construction work on Package I of the 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project has resumed after a 51-day suspension caused by a payment dispute. The halt had impacted progress on the project, which is crucial for boosting the region's energy capacity.
Shyamji Bhandari, the project head, confirmed that the joint venture construction company, Songda Kalika, has resumed operations following assurances from the concerned bodies regarding the payment of dues through the European Bank.
As of now, only 35 percent of the work under Package I has been completed. This phase of the project has seen the successful construction of two diversion tunnels, designed to redirect the Seti River's flow in preparation for the construction of a 140-meter high dam.
The resumption of work marks a significant step forward in advancing the Tanahun Hydropower Project, which aims to enhance energy production and support local development.
