Ridi Power Achieves Milestone with First Blasting at Lower Balephi Hydropower Project
Ridi Power Company Ltd., through its subsidiary Sajha Power Company Ltd., completed the first blasting operation for the tunnel construction of the 22.5 MW Lower Balephi Hydropower Project in Sindhupalchok. The project involves building a 5.5-kilometer tunnel and is located about 72 kilometers from Kathmandu. The construction is being handled by various contractors for different sections, with a total project cost of NPR 4.45 billion.
The project is financed through a bank loan and equity investments from Kumari Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, and Citizens Bank International Ltd. Scheduled for completion by 2026, Ridi Power Company Ltd. owns 55% of the project, with the rest held by local investors and other shareholders. The first blasting ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, marking a key milestone in the project’s development.
