Ridi Power Company Resumes Operation of Iwakhola Hydroelectric Project
Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI) has successfully resumed operations of the Iwakhola Hydroelectric Project after it was halted due to severe flooding in Eastern Nepal.
The Iwakhola Hydroelectric Project, with a capacity of 9.9 MW, utilizes water from the Iwakhola River, which flows along the border of Panchthar and Taplejung districts. The project has been operational since Ashwin 20, 2076. However, on Jestha 32, 2080, severe flooding in Eastern Nepal caused significant damage to the powerhouse, dam site, gates, and headrace pipe, leading to a cessation of electricity production.
The company has since completed the repair and reconstruction of the damaged structures. As of 12:30 PM on Jestha 15, 2081, Ridi Power Company Limited has successfully resumed the supply of electricity to the national transmission line.
