RPP to Defy Protest Ban with Demonstrations in Restricted Areas on April 20

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has announced it will stage protests in restricted zones across the country on April 20, defying government-imposed limitations on demonstrations.
Chairman Rajendra Lingden, speaking after the party’s Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, accused the government of infringing on citizens’ fundamental rights by arbitrarily designating prohibited areas. “We are being pushed into a corner. That’s why we’ve decided to protest in restricted zones,” said Lingden.
In addition to April 20’s protest, the RPP will hold rallies, sit-ins, and demonstrations in all 77 districts on April 22. The party has also demanded the immediate release of leaders including Rabindra Mishra and Dhawal SJB Rana, who were arrested during the Tinkune protest on March 28.
The meeting further resolved to strengthen the party’s grassroots organization, particularly within the Kathmandu Valley, by expanding its presence down to the ward level.
