SAARC Election Chiefs Meet President Paudel, Emphasize Strengthening Democratic Processes
Chief election commissioners from SAARC member countries paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Paudel during the 12th Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA).
In his remarks, President Paudel highlighted the significance of periodic elections as the foundation of democracy, emphasizing the importance of fair, transparent, and deception-free elections to ensure public access and ownership of the state. He expressed optimism that the conference would contribute to making elections in South Asia more independent, fair, and fearless.
President Paudel also reiterated Nepal's commitment to fostering mutual support and cooperation among SAARC countries to achieve shared goals and tackle future challenges collectively.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya briefed the President on the discussions held during the 12th FEMBoSA meeting. Representatives from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives were also present at the meeting.
