The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has drawn serious attention to the publication of untrue and misleading news that the board has approved an increase of up to 6 times the fee of the API*.
*API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows communication between NEPSE's storage of data and the entity that wants the data.
In this regard, the board has clarified that NEPSE can make and implement a procedure to organize the work related to the provision of data and information available after the transaction of securities.
If the NEPSE protocol specifies that there will be a fee for providing data and information following a security transaction, the board must first approve any such cost before it may be implemented.
Therefore, it is made clear that the fees mentioned in the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited, Data Usage Procedure, 2077 shall continue to be the same without any changes so far.
Investment firms, financial analysts, data providers, news portals, non-profit educational institutions, and foreign businesses/people (for research) can all request the API, according to the directory. The IP address, VPN parameters, and other relevant information should be disclosed together with the API request.
If the data provided is used for unauthorized purposes, NEPSE has the right to discontinue the service and even impose a fine as a penalty. In order to guarantee that the data is utilized morally, NEPSE additionally included the right to inspect the service user.
The API fee varies for individuals, educational institutions, research firms, and so on.
