Self-Sufficiency In Agriculture Key To National Economic Prosperity: Chamber Chairman Malla

Rajendra Malla, the Chairman of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, has underlined the critical importance of achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture for the economic prosperity of the country. Chairman Malla stated that government policies and goals aimed at achieving economic prosperity will be confined to paper until dependence on agriculture is eliminated. Chairman Malla emphasized that there should be effective coordination between the three levels of government and private sector organizations for the production and marketing of agricultural products.

While inaugurating the fifth general meeting of the Dolakha Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Malla emphasized the necessity to facilitate exports and promote the identification of agricultural and mining products in order to reduce the existing trade deficit.

Chairman Malla stated that, "From the perspective of agricultural production, each district holds unique significance. However, there is a pressing need for a strong policy framework to promote and market local products." Chairman Malla expressed concern over the unfortunate situation where an agricultural country must import food products. Additionally, Chairman Malla emphasized the establishment of a dedicated cell in each district to enhance production and facilitate the easy marketing of local agricultural products.
