The Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Services on Monday reported a drop in the numbers of daily COVID-19 deaths and new cases in the country.
The death toll rose to 26,744 after 123 people lost their lives in the 24-hour period as of 9 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) on Sunday.
This is 20 fewer than the 143 deaths registered in the previous 24-hour period, which means Spain has seen fewer than 200 new deaths for three consecutive days, although weekend figures have to be viewed with some caution due to delays in collecting information.
There was also a fall in the number of new cases. The ministry reported 373 new infections, down from the 621 new cases reported in the previous day, taking the tally to 227,436.
So far, 137,131 patients have recovered from the virus.-(Xinhua)
