Supreme Court Defers Hearing on Petition Against Deputy PM and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane
The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on a writ petition filed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
The hearing, initially scheduled for today, was to be overseen by Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel, with Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel also set to be in attendance.
The postponement ensued following a request by petitioner Anupam Bhattarai to adjourn the proceedings. Advocate Bhattarai had filed the petition subsequent to Attorney General Pokharel's decision to exonerate Home Minister Lamichhane in a cooperative fund misappropriation case.
The petition contends that, given the investigative agency operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lamichhane should be suspended from his position to ensure an impartial investigation into the alleged cooperative fraud.
Furthermore, a parliamentary probe committee was established on Tuesday to investigate the cooperative case, signaling ongoing developments in this matter.
