Third Replenishment Meeting of International Development Association-21 Commences in Kathmandu
The third replenishment meeting of the International Development Association (IDA)-21 began today in Kathmandu. The World Bank management accepted Nepal's proposal to host the meeting, bringing together more than 200 representatives from 61 countries, including the Senior Managing Director of the World Bank, Axel Van Trotsenburg. The meeting will continue until June 21.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate the event. Over the next four days, donors, representatives of recipient countries, and high-ranking World Bank officials will engage in in-depth discussions. These discussions will focus on commitments of concessional loans and grant aid to IDA countries for the next three years. Key topics will include priority areas, policy frameworks, result blueprints, and the necessary financial resources.
Participants will also visit nine different World Bank-supported projects in Nepal, related to education, drinking water, reconstruction, energy, and climate. These site visits will provide an opportunity to showcase the progress and status of these projects to the global community.
