Tilicho Lake Base Camp in Manang Now Connected to National Power Grid
The base camp of Tilicho Lake, a popular tourist site in Manang at an altitude of 4,250 meters, has been connected to the national power grid, bringing a new level of convenience to residents and visitors alike. A 50 kVA transformer was installed by the Nepal Electricity Authority, marking a significant upgrade for the remote area.
With 10 hotels, a health post, and several eateries now connected to the grid, a total of 15 electricity customers are benefiting from the new infrastructure. Previously, the base camp, located within the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), relied on solar power and diesel generators.
According to Chyolpa Gurung, ward chair of Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-9, the shift to national grid power has reduced the need for cooking gas and enabled the installation of an oximeter to aid trekkers traveling to Tilicho Lake. The power connection is expected to improve facilities for both locals and trekkers.
