Tourist Arrivals Soar in April 2024, Nepal Witnesses 12.8% Increase Compared to Last Year
As the tourist season unfolds, Nepal continues to witness a significant increase in tourist arrivals. According to recent data released by the Tourism Board, the month of April 2024 welcomed a total of 111,376 tourists into the country. This marks a notable uptick of 12.8 percent compared to April 2023, when 98,773 tourists visited Nepal.
The upward trend in tourist arrivals reflects a steady growth trajectory over the past few years. In 2022, 61,589 tourists visited Nepal, whereas in the preceding years 22,732 in 2021, 14 in 2020, and 108,106 in 2019.
Notably, April 2024 witnessed the highest influx of tourists, with 30,158 arrivals. Among the top contributing countries, the United States led with 9,947 tourists, followed closely by China with 9,750 arrivals. Additionally, significant numbers of tourists hailed from the United Kingdom (5,391), Australia (4,110), Bangladesh (4,000), France (3,755), Germany (3,270), Russia (2,977), and Maldives (2,310).
The surge in tourist arrivals underscores Nepal's enduring appeal as a premier destination among travelers worldwide, highlighting the country's diverse cultural heritage, natural beauty, and adventure opportunities.
