Transportation in Kathmandu Valley is expected to be disrupted on Friday due to separate rallies and gatherings organized by republican and pro-monarchy groups. The Socialist Front Nepal, an alliance of four parties, will hold a gathering at Bhrikuti Mandap, while pro-monarchy activists plan a mass meeting at Tinkune, preceded by rallies from various parts of the city.
The Metropolitan Traffic Police has discussed alternative traffic management strategies, but no official plans have been disclosed yet. Key routes, including Chakrapath and Koteshwor, may see temporary traffic diversions. The Socialist Front’s constituent parties will hold separate processions before converging at Bhrikuti Mandap. The Maoist Center will march from Babar Mahal, Kupandol, Tripureshwar, and Sorhakhutte, while the Unified Socialist Party will rally from Maitidevi, Dillibazar, and Shanti Batika. Similarly, CPN (Biplav) supporters will gather at Sundhara and New Road, joining the main procession before noon.
Traffic congestion is anticipated after 12 PM, especially in Maitighar Mandala, Thapathali, Tripureshwar, Bhadrakali, Sorhakhutte, Chhetrapati, Asan, Jamal, Kamaladi, Putalisadak, and Bagbazar. However, Chief District Officer Rishiram Adhikari has assured that traffic flow outside the rally zones will remain unaffected.
