Tree Plantation Program Launched in Nepal to Boost Agriculture and Climate Resilience
With support from The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF), Sahara Nepal and Varaha ClimateAg Pvt Ltd. have launched a tree plantation initiative aimed at improving Nepal’s agricultural landscape and promoting climate resilience.
The program is part of the project “Strengthening Regenerative Horticulture and Agroforestry in Nepal,” which focuses on addressing agricultural challenges and enhancing land productivity. The official inauguration took place on February 9, 2025, in Kathmandu, with key government officials and stakeholders in attendance.
The program will be implemented in 11 districts, benefiting thousands of farmers by improving fruit production, soil health, and water management. Additionally, it incorporates a carbon credit system for farmers to earn extra income while contributing to climate change mitigation.
The Coca-Cola Foundation emphasized its commitment to environmental and economic impact, while local leaders acknowledged the significance of regenerative techniques for farmers' livelihoods and sustainable land use.
