Upper Tamakoshi IPO issue makes way to the Parliament; MP demands the issue to be postponed

The issue of IPO of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project has found its way in the House of Representatives on Monday. The member of parliament from Dolakha district, Ms Shanti Pakhrin has demanded to postpone the issue date by 1 month.

The IPO of Upper Tamakoshi is to be issued from Ashadh 24 for the locals of the project affected area of Dolakha district. However, Ms Pakhrin said that Ashadh is the month of sowing for the farmers and the period of closing for the banking institutions. Hence, the mentioned period is not favourable time for the issuance of the shares, she insisted.

She has also demanded for the information regarding the procedure of applying for the shares in various media. Along with that, she has also demanded for the collection centers in all the ward offices of Rural municipality and municipality of the district.

For the locals of the district residing in foreign countries due to employment and for the locals of the district in different places of Nepal, she has demanded for the availability of online application method. At the same time, she has also demanded for the provisions for the women of the district married in other districts.

She has demanded for an investigation on the increased the cost of the project which was estimated to be Rs 35.29 arba but has reached Rs 49.29 arba.
