US Chamber of Commerce Delegation Confirms Participation in Nepal's Investment Summit
A delegation from the United States Chamber of Commerce is set to participate in Nepal's upcoming Investment Summit on April 28-29, a development disclosed during a notable meeting at the Ministry of Finance. US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson, conveyed this information to Minister of Finance, Barshaman Pun, during their discussions, which centered on mutual interests such as the timely execution of projects backed by the United States within Nepal. In response, Ambassador Thompson pledged steadfast support from the American side to ensure the success of the Investment Summit, highlighting the commitment to fostering bilateral economic ties.
Minister Pun shared insights into Nepal's preparations for the Investment Summit, emphasizing ongoing efforts to create an environment conducive to investment. These endeavors encompass legal and procedural reforms aimed at facilitating smoother investment processes within the country. Minister Pun also expressed optimism about increased participation from American investors, underscoring Nepal's evolving investment climate and the opportunities it presents.
Additionally, Minister Pun highlighted progress in enhancing Nepal's financial credibility, particularly in terms of its Sovereign Credit Rating. Noteworthy advancements include engagements with the international credit rating agency Fitch to evaluate and potentially elevate Nepal's credit rating. Moreover, Minister Pun addressed concerns regarding Nepal's status with the Financial Action Task Force, noting significant strides in mitigating the risk of blacklisting through the endorsement of critical legislation related to Anti Money Laundering and Business Environment Promotion by Parliament.
